As your Oura numbers vary, do you feel better or worse?

I know you took one test that should be very reliable but I wonder if it missed a newer variant. All the tools we have - medications, tests, vaccines, etc. - were tested on earlier variants. Or maybe you had a different virus that you couldn’t test for?

I don’t generally feel as bad as the metrics suggest. There have only been a couple of nights where I might have registered a fever without being measured.

The 15-20bpm high heart rate is a bit troubling, but I wouldn’t notice it if I wasn’t being measured all the time. At least not until I’m exerting myself - then it shows as a slow pace: almost 2 minutes slow for a 1km run; close to a minute slow per km on the bike. Without the metrics, I would attribute it to not exercising at high intensity for an extended period.

That said, I have felt more energetic on the few days Oura has given me a good readiness score. I’ve just spent it doing 5 little things instead of one big thing, so much of it doesn’t show on my log.

I suspect I just picked up other viruses, without practice fighting them off. The first lasted several days (rather than historic 24-36 hours). Then a vaccine took a couple days. Then another, longer virus sort of thing - longer lasting than the original, but near asymptomatic.

I hope your time away is restful and helps your body heal.

I realized that there may be an emotional component to it. The poor metrics started a year after we got an unequivocal death sentence.

I am definitely in an area conducive to rest.

That makes a lot of sense. :( You've been on our minds.
