I still have no idea what it's about - nor do I care to - but one ad I heard for a business on NZ radio yesterday announced 'Black Friday sale lasts all of November'. So one day has turned into a whole month although not yet quite as bad as Christmas Day having turned into two months. It long ago lost all meaning (just like Black Friday hopefully will).
I´m with tRicky on this subject. Got a few Black Friday offers in my mail today, ours is tomorrow but I suspect you will be attacked several hours before we do.
Re: Christmas - I don´t agree with Christmas decorations coming up already in October as was the case in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago. Whatever meaning this had before is all lost on me.
I'm often tempted to collect all the flyers and then next Friday 13th go round all the shops and demand the 'black Friday' prices
It depends on if you are a glass half empty or a glass half full person. The adoption of this piece of Americanism leaves much to be desired; but an opposing view is to grasp the opportunity and purchase something you were going to buy anyway at a reduced price. Personally I am not a fan of the way these things creep into our culture; but I am also happy to take a bargain when it is offered
If I haven't already bought it, I probably didn't need it to begin with. The retailers will try to convince me otherwise.
