Saw it reported somewhere that today was Venomous Bites and Stings Awareness Day.
(The jacarandas are in good form in the bits of Sydney I've been in, too).
I'm not aware of any of these. There are too many awareness days/weeks/months to be aware of.
You mean you didn't know, for example, that May 5th is World Hand Hygiene Day?
(...we all know, of course, that May the Fourth is Star Wars Day)
And - I had to look this one up myself - World Pharmacists' Day is Sept 25th :) but did you know that Saint Nicholas is actually the patron saint of pharmacists - and also of prostitutes!
I thought St. Nick was Christmas?
Yes and no - actually the Bishop of Myra's feast day is Dec 6th (commemorating his death) and in Germanic countries that is the day when children leave out their shoes in order to receive gifts in them. Yes, he is also the patron saint of children. Oh, and sailors...
St Nick is also the patron saint of thieves.
And now, we are in National Asbestos Awareness Week!
Must be working, I've long since been aware of asbestos.
Jacarandas are close to done here. Nearly time for frangipanis.
