Soccer is a lot of fun to play, but not much fun to watch. But that's how I feel about most sports.

I think it takes practice. The more you watch, the more you enjoy watching. That could probably be said for many sports. One thing I most definitely appreciate is the lack of commercials; watching any US sports I'm soon frustrated and change the channel.

BTW, Peacock is not carrying any biathlon or xc skiing this year.
* Biathlon is at Eurovision.
* Nordic is at Ski and Snowboard LIve and is pay per view or subscription.

Admittedly it's my job. But I literally can't watch enough. No matter how bad that game was. I was still fixated.

I think I would enjoy watching soccer with someone who actually understands the game. Not sure there are that many around here who do.

Orienteering nerds would like soccer better if they could watch 2 sets of 10 dots move about on a big screen chasing after a white dot.

There are many levels of understanding soccer, only basics are needed for watching. But I think you need to understand offside rule properly and relize how the whole game is all about that offside rule thing - how players move, the way they try to get postioned or should be positioned, timing, both team attacking and defending - it all is about the offside rule. It is difficult to stay intersted whole game without understanding that prperly. Without understanding that it is just random people running after ball. Then of course some simple things like who gets throw-ins and corner kicks and such abd knowning some players will be bonus.

Maybe my problem is I don't have the right way to watch the games. This is from an article in today's local paper about watching the World Cup.

"His tradition for Mexico’s games is to hang a large Mexican flag on the wall in his living room, and wear the same outfit and drink the same beer as he did the last time the team won (in this case, it’s Yakimaniac IPA from Free State Brewery)."

Proper outfit + drinking.

That’s a decent life strategy.

I can't believe you were watching and believing you were going to have a good experience without the Yakimaniac IPA. I mean, c'mon, what were you expecting?

Jagge's nailed it (but he actually has). Spike's nailed it. igoup's nailed it. Swampfox......has most definitely nailed it.
