That’s what I thought when I got sick on the way to the Billygoat this year. Sick enough to that I figured I’d go to the start, get a map, maybe a control or two. Then I saw the hill I had to climb to get to the start and it looked pretty daunting, so I just went off and napped in the car. DNS was definitely the way to go.
For the record, the start was downhill from the car. But you would have had to come back up.
I haven't seen the course, but I have been wondering: did you consider going to the last control, Spike?
(OK, now I've seen most of it, on Steve Tarry's log.)
After some thought, I've decided to consider myself as finishing first in the "skip any 28 controls" category.
@jjcote my plan was to just do the first control. When I was at one I realized I could pick up 2 without my trouble and on my way back to the finish.
@Charlie, you may not know that Mike is the only person to have started all 22 Possum Trots. So a DNS was not really an option....
Yeah, if he ever breaks that streak he'll have no further excuse for not setting the next one.
