Did you eat all the food and now have light packs?
That. Plus I think I stopped my watch at the major stops today. Plus nothing motivates like a finish line within reach. Today was also relatively flatter. The final 1km was packless as I left the bag and others at the perfectly situated trail end cafe to get the car.

I see that you walked on water on Friday :)
Did you also catch a boat to the start of the track?
We took a boat. It was that or fly (expensive and an early start) or bus (aoife likely to vomit over Takaka Hill). The boat was perfect. And there was a lot of water on Friday. I wish I could walk on it. Arawoa estuary is broad, had deep channels, a large catchment for rainfall and lots of very sharp shells. I carried Keen sandals for this and they were no use as the shells got stuck in them. I also fell over trying to dislodge the shells so managed to get my boots saturated anyway :)
