I looked this up when you posted it and couldn't find any mention of it being the final event on their FB page. They posted today that they (and Panania) would continue to operate so there obviously was a rumour about it discontinuing. Something about a lack of sponsors. Do parkruns need continuing sponsors once they are set up? Neither seemed to be having issues with participant numbers.

I thought the sponsors were the national ones, rather than local. But it is interesting that there was a post. I thought it strange that the guy said his wife got a text - but thinking later I conclude that it could have been a "word of mouth" heads up. I'm planning on another tourism this weekend, hoping I don't have the car non-starter again. Aiming for Upper Hunter Valley in early New Year.

Yes we are touristing for the next three weeks (actually me for the next five) though I notice there's a new WA parkrun about to start (in Carnarvon so a bit too far to travel - even the recent Jurien Bay one is two hours from Tash's mum's place in far far north of Perth).

The 'sponsor' mentioned was Active Canterbury-Bankstown so sounds local.

Yes definitely local there. Is it mandatory yet for parkrun to have defibs at each place? 'Cos I can't see a lot of other support needed once set up.
