Discussion: Trails n racing

Trip n falls in the last two trail races has snuffed out my enthusiasm for them (races). Tree roots and imbedded rocks do not go well with my foot dragging running style. Actually would like to run/race on trails of packed dirt with few or no imbedded obstacles. Unfortunately I can trip on a flat smooth surface...and the landings! Like being dropped out of a plane or at least the back of a pickup moving at 50 mph. The problem is not 'catching' or softening the landing at impact. My reaction time is too slow and my arms are not strong enough evidently to prevent me from smashing into the ground.

It took two months to get 98% over the last trip n fall...had to sleep on my back...could not sleep on right (hurt side) or even the left (it actually bothered me as much or even more when I tried to). If I never race or only race once or twice a year is fine with me. More concerned with just 'keeping at it'.
