its worth monitoring whether this is just a joint or muscular issue vs a tendonitis. eitherway rest should help but if it doesn't seem to improve much with rest then I would be very careful (thankfully tendonitis is pretty rare in runners, but i think it's more risky for orienteers)

So I have no idea what it is, because I know very little about the body. Basically, there is pain on the top left part of the knee when I attempt to bend the knee. This pain is very minimal but noticeable. No pain if I am not moving/sitting, but I can feel the same pain if I prod the knee with my fingers. Feels to be honest almost like a bruise but nothing on the outside to indicate any injury. Definitely, be monitoring it in the coming days. Felt worse this morning than yesterday but has gradually felt better throughout the day.

Top part of the knee means it's probably not a tendon issue which is good. Tenderness should resolve pretty easily with rest, can also try cross friction massage, but it doesn't sound like ITBS either so it should be fine.
