In addition to being a fun vacation, it was a great training camp!

Turns out. It was a good immersion into more balance in my activities. The only thing that isn't likely to stick is running. My knee complained after the short run, and I believe the right I vision, which had improved dramatically, was worse after the run - might have shaken some of the misplaced goop. I'm sure my brain will adjust to it again.

I'll try a couple more runs after everything settles down, but it isn't likely to become part of my program.

Impact isn't for everyone but weight bearing exercise is great if you can handle it. One of my friends set the overall record for the 900+ km Bruce Trail a decade ago and has also finished a number of ultra races. She trains to be a very fast walker because that's where ultrarunners can lose time. Maybe that's something you could try. She worked on it using a treadmill where she would turn up the speed in increments. You could also just find hiking trails and aim for a brisker pace than a typical walk. It's much easier on the body than running.

With poles you can get a decent workout fast-hiking.
