If you want to hit the Garmin estimate - don't pick a hilly XC 5k to do it. Of course that's exactly what I'm doing next week.

bhall - Summer Sizzler series kicks off Wednesday evening at Forest Park in Springfield. Just sayin...

PS - Won that race once upon a time. But it was a very small field owing to the tornado the blew through Springfield while the race was going on. I was already in the park when the warning came out so didn't find out until afterwards. But a win is still a win just because everyone else didn't show up...

Try Parkrun! https://www.parkrun.us/events/#geo=11.29/38.8977/-...
It's free, and there's 3 of them in DC. So you can give it a go any saturday you want :)

No Parkruns near me unless I drive up to Boston. But Forest Park is only $5. And NEOC (aka Phil) is hosting a double sprint there on May 28th.

I think that my coach would be less than thrilled if I were to do extra 5k races on Wednesday nights...the track races will be enough for me.

I haven't run any of those DC parkruns, but the Roosevelt Island one and probably Fletcher's Cove are unpaved (and quite flat). I'm guessing Fletcher's Cove is on the towpath. Don't know about Anacostia, but I think that one is paved.
I've done a parkrun near me that is paved but double out and back and not completely flat.
