Probably not!
Not sure we really knew, or thought much about it, back then mind. I think we just decided it would be a fun thing to do. Just a group of us from Edinburgh, including SelW, Ann & Andy C and one or two others. I don’t think there was any real marathon training. Ann was the one who went onto considerably greater marathon things.

I imagine it was a bit different to 42 years ago? Less people, no GPS watches for pacing, was it even the a same route?

Too true @LD. I don’t remember even thinking about pacing…just running :-). I do remember the red carpet laid over the cobbles near the Tower, and empty roads around the Isle of Dogs. The route has barely changed in all that time though!
