More than once living in your part of the world I was woken up on this particular date by the dawn service at the memorial on Burgundy Street at the Studley junction. Not sure if that still happens since the Heidelberg RSL folded? (RSLs in our part of town haven't had a great decade of it - the Ivanhoe one burned down a few years back and as of last time I went past the shell was still there, presumably because of insurance disputes?).

From reading Anthony Carbine's Facebook post, the Heidelberg service was at the RSL on Bell St in West Heidelberg - mercifully far away. Interesting about the Ivanhoe RSL - I cycle past there pretty regularly and had no idea. Looks like it's still in limbo: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theage.com.au/nat...

I might be getting a different sort of wake-up - Servette (Geneva's ice hockey team, and also the suburb I'm staying in), if they win tonight, will win the Swiss championship for the first time in 118 years of trying (having been runners-up on no fewer than 10 occasions). I wonder if their fans will come back here to celebrate.

Looks like you didn't get to test the theory, Blair! Probably good for your sleep patterns.

For now, anyway. All or nothing on Thursday night.
