Anyone else watching or trying to watch the World Cup long distance this morning?

The race is on now but the IOF TV site says the live coverage starts in 8 hours for me.

Canada has Vegard Jarvis Westergard, Christian Michelsen, and Emily Kemp starting today.

I don't think the TV coverage starts until well into the race (but not that far), think it's something like 1330 CET? Live results and tracking are working.

Blair, I just took a closer look at rhe schedule and the TV coverage isn't due to start for another couple of hours. My guess is the count-down clock is getting messed up by time zones.

I find that quite often happens when your computer is in a different time zone to the one the website is in (if you're not careful when booking train tickets online in some European countries you can find yourself booking a ticket at a time several hours different to what you thought you were...).

Back to the orienteering, I see Henry McNulty is the clubhouse leader early on.

Westergard with one of the top races ever by a Canadian?

Pam James won a WOC "middle" heat in 1999. Seems like that would be pretty near the top.
Or do you just mean men? Ted de St. Croix 10th at WOC 1985?
Anyway, a quite fine run by Vegard, only 9+ min back.

Some guy from the Yukon was 21st at a World Cup Race in Tasmania in 1988. Granted it was a smaller field.

or Denise Demonte in 1986 Canadian WCup?
% behind winner might be a more meaningful stat than place

Let's not forget Emily's and Sandy's top-10 WOC races in more recent times!

Denise D was 4th in 1986 WC.
Emily medalist at JWOC, Emma W 6th at JWOC.

Wasn't Ted de St. Croix 3rd at Bugaboos? I remember 'cos Carol McNeil gave me the map and I think it's still on my bedroom wall at my parents house. (My kids think it's their bedroom).

Thanks for the run down memory lane! I did not mean "One of the top races ever" to suggest "the top race ever".
Regardless, awesome result for Canada and looking forward to the rest of the races!

Nice run by Emily Kemp in the middle!

Yes very solid performance from Emily. The courses look like a lot of fun and it was to watch Emily pick up a tail for much of it.

Another solid performance from Vegard as well.
