Nice job! I'm glad you ran closer to your age group!

I think there's goodness in running shorter courses hard, and sometimes that early move up to F-20 achieves the goal of making the JWOC team and prepping for the longer races, but it also makes it harder to remember what it feels like to navigate fast if you're always running a distance intended for someone several years older than you are.

I really appreciated watching what Anna was capable of doing on a Brown course at Jr. Nats, and also the sprint at West Point. I'm excited that she'll be running W-18 at European Youth Champs, because so many JWOC Europeans are bona fide F-20s, and their bodies are just developmentally capable of more than younger runners.

So, please don't feel like you ever have to apologize for running your age group. In fact, you might even check in with the coaching team about what they recommend about balancing running distance with fast technical training. My guess is they're not just going to say "always run F-20," but give you a more nuanced response based on your training / race focus.
