I noticed that as well. On the edge of the circle.

These days when I am setting or controlling I use a tablet with the georeferenced map. In daylight it is only used on a few controls, such as this sort of situation. In the dark (as in last Friday evening) it was much more helpful.

I hit it OK but that explains why the line to 13 didn't seem quite right.

You can at least partly blame the controller here. When I woke the control up on Sunday morning, I moved it maybe 10 metres down the gully because it was above the two lines of stone flanking the gully, but on the map it should have been well and truly between them. It felt about right with the contours too where I put it. I would have thought that it was visible from a fair way away in its relocated position in any event.

A GPS might have been useful here, but that relies on the map having things in the right place. This may or may not be the case. When the map was made. GS's weren't even a twinkle in their mother's eye!

As one weekend controller to another ... the map is indeed georeferenced, but the accuracy is very variable across the map. I don't know what it was like up your end of the map.
