Tropical Storm Gordon, one week into Sept 2018, 3.73 inches in 24 hours

Did you take the control down or did the stream get it?
Is that an SI box hanging there? Did it get waterlogged.
We had an SI box tossed in a lake once by a vandal. Luckily the wind was blowing in the right direction and we got it backed. But there was water infiltration and the unit did not work.
Tropical storm Gordon? I was so disappointed that the storm with that name when it finally came along did not pack more of a punch. Glad to see it is remembered somewhere.

It was a retarded control location/placement ----regardless of any tropical development

I've seen CPs like that in ARs before, maybe not quite so fast flowing underneath but still the potential to fall in.

There was an event in Rotorua (NZ) in April 2017 (just before World Masters) where a control was moved because a new volcanic steam vent had opened up near the site the previous night.

on topic - the lake was also a touch above average that year Blair and a few people got wet feet, shins, thighs.....

Oh no, not wet feet! Last year's MTBO sprint near Rotorua involved wet everything. One control on a building corner most definitely had a swim option (except you had to stay with your bike).

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't "bad" German language, so "bath control" would be more correct phrase here, right?

Mr Wonderful:
It was a poor control location/placement

For a strict o enthusiast event? Sure. For any event billed more as fun than technical champs if people have a reasonable expectation of wet feet and at the original level pictured? Not sure I see an issue, and even perhaps fun and amusing. YMMV, IMHO, ETC.
