There is another adit on the map that is much more interesting, and safer. You can walk in to a stope and see the quartz vein as an arch across the ceiling. Lots of nasty shafts around here though. The local mine workers call it Honeycomb Hill.

That's the one Dad and I went to. David was annoyed he didn't pick up the controls in that area

Honeycomb Hill sounds like a great name for an Easter map :)

Psalm Singing Gully sounds like the one we'd do on the Sunday.

How did it get that wonderful name?

From last week's OV newsletter:

The map is named after the main gully. This probably refers to miners following the Calvinist form of Protestantism which only allowed the singing of psalms in worship.

Interesting and sounds quite lovely. I must read the o-news more carefully.

tRicky - at one point we were considering Sunday Morning Hills for the Sunday event. The terrain isn't as much fun as the other options so it dropped off. Will map it at some stage anyway. Will be brutal mapping as its well suited to the IOF Long Profile.

And as to my surmise about the origins of the name... well here is a good short exposition on psalm singing in Calvinist worship.

Sunday Morning Hills don't appear to have a lot of detail, they are fairly macro! I did go for a drive through there last year because I was curious, but then the track got a bit rough...also I fear the name is associated with a massacre?
