One possibility is trying some yoga. I did a search for yoga for lower back pain when mine was bad (as in, couldn't tie my shoes, couldn't run...). It worked. Definitely hips, glutes, and hamstrings were the cause for me. The video I used was an Adriene one on youtube (she has a bunch), about 12-15 minutes long. The next morning I was virtually pain free.

Obviously it depends on what is causing the pain ... but it might be worth a try.

Thanks! I can never figure out when I’m supposed to be resting and when I’m supposed to be doing movement to help with pain.

There is movement and then there is movement. Start gentle, and see how it goes.
