Fewer rotten apple cores, energy bar wrappers, loonies, etc. stuff here and there.

Fewer splattered mosquitoes on ceiling of new car.

Congrats!

I thought the Crosstrek would come with interior upholstery with a splattered mosquito motif from the factory, no?
Ours should have come with a dog footprint pattern.
Enjoy it- you certainly are Subaru-worthy.

Subaru still doesn’t have cup holders that fit Nalgene water bottles. i would have that was a no brainer

Is this a hybrid car?
Jun 27, 2023 6:56 PM #
Hammer:
Unfortunately no. We really wanted this car to be a Subaru EV. Unfortunately the Subaru Solterra range is not good enough for travel in Ontario's near north given the limited charging stations. I'm hoping that in 4-5 years my house will be solar powered with a geothermal heat pump and an EV.

We have the hybrid version of the Crosstrek from 2019 and are very happy with it, except for storage space. Roofbox is a must.
Jun 28, 2023 2:05 PM #
Hammer:
Yeah you lose about 1/3 of the storage right? Subaru stopped offering the hybrid crosstrek.
Jun 28, 2023 3:55 PM #
BorisGr:
Yeah, i think they only had it for like one year. And yes, the battery severely limits trunk storage space.

I really wish Subaru would go back to the original Outback model. I've heard that like the Toyota Matrix it sold really well in Canada, but other markets didn't like the look.

My fave Subaru AP thread story is when Biggins and Alex J were discussing outback vs crosstrek. then when i was in California while working at Berkeley i met Carol and Greg at a race and saw they went with the Crosstrek. When I asked Greg why Crosstrek he said “Carol is Canadian as you know and I can’t have her telling everyone we drive an Oot-back”

I still think Americans don’t hear our cdn accents properly

I wish Honda still made Fits. Even the HR-V, which was based on the Fit in its 1st generation, is now on a larger Civic platform.

Our plan is to replace my Fit with a little electric hatchback in 2025. I'm looking forward to seeing what's on the market then.

Still waiting for the AWD VW Buzz electric van, if it pans out.
Jun 30, 2023 1:24 PM #
Hammer:
The Buzz is going to be a big success for VW but I think it will be a massive success if/when the AWD camper van version arrives. That would fast track my retirement date

Nev-Monster:
Ah man, the Buzz looks similar to the VW van I let slip through my fingers from my dad. Coldest vehicle ever.

VW Buzz vs old VW Bus. Mind you, Hyundai or someone might do an end run around them and come out with a better AWD adventurevan.
