Think bent would have much better insight than me for forest running. I wore them for a few mult-day races as well as daily training for several years but recently moved on from the brand as they are a bit more shoe than I like these days. Favs at the moment are La Sportiva Kaptiva and new Hoka Zinal 2, but maybe not all that useful for forest running.

I had Topo UVPros, but got them a half size too big (My usual 10) and ended up with MTNRacer2s in 9.5.
Best shoe I ever had- the width fits me perfectly a half size down from other shoes. Loved them for running in Spain etc. as well as wet and muck here. The tread is nice and grippy with the Megagrip compound that Salomon wished they could have, according to PC. The MTR1 was a bit too firm for trails, but was good in the bush. I used them for portaging boat + 35kg pack on steep wet rocks this weekend and was very glad for the grip. The MTNracer2 is a bit more cushy.

I’m about to order MTNRacer 3s, which I think will be slightly softer still.
My original pair of MTR1 has 65 hours on so far, but I did add a little shoe goo to the very front of the sole where it looked like it might separate.

As an aside, the Trailventure WP is a light hiker with the same sole and they are my favourite hiking boot ever, but I did get a 10.

Topo’s selling off the MTRacer2 cheap right now since the 3 came out.

If any of you are in Canmore, I've never seen a store with more high-end trail running shoes as Ski UpHill:

Love that store! I order on-line from them from time to time. another great store is Le coureur nordique - they stick their neck out stocking new/unusual brands....just ordered a pair of Kilian's NNormal Kjerag...can't wait to receive them this week!
