My motto: Train in Miles, race in Kilometers.

yea but going out for 10 miles sounds a lot less daunting than going out for 16k

Even in Australia which has been using the metric system for 50 years, I can't think of a direct equivalent to "mileage" in use.

I was rather amused by the mixture of units in use at the Scottish 6-Days, sometimes in the same paragraph - I quote from here: "On leaving Elgin carry on straight ahead at Barmuckity roundabout (Elgin Services/ Travellodge) and then take the first left onto the B9103 signed for Lossiemouth. After 2.8 km turn right onto an unclassified road (Urquhart / Milltown / HGV Test Centre). After 0.4 miles turn left into Milltown Airfield."
