I participated many corridor training and all created with OCAD. (With Google I found only solutions with OCAD: https://www.ocad.com/wiki/ocad/en/index.php?title=... )

As a small club we are using the free alternatives (OOmapper and Purple Pen) to create the courses.

Can somebody advice a method to create this kind of training with OOmapper and Purple Pen?

It is indeed possible. I would imagine it would go like this: so you have your map, now load it into Purple Pen. Then, go to the Add tab and select whiteout area. Use this area feature to whiteout everything around the center of your corridor. To use the whiteout you have to click, you can’t click/drag like in OOM. Then, after the main part of your corridor is ready, once again use the Add tab to navigate to either the uncrossable boundary symbol or the line feature at the bottom or the menu. Either one will work, you can make the line as thick or thin as you want if you use the line feature. Then, trace the place where your whiteout area connects with the visible portion of the map using whichever line you picked. That is the method I use at least. Hope this helps.

Then just place controls along the corridor using the add control button. Now export the pdf (or print) of the ALL CONTROLS course.

Alternatively, you could use OOM, too.

You would need to do two things before drawing:

1) Create a new color of white and bring that color to the top in the color sorting menu.

2) Create a new area symbol using that new white color.

Then when you use this new white symbol, it'll cover everything below it on the map.

I would probably use the method in Purple Pen, but it is also possible to get the result you want from OOM.

Yes either way works, I have used both methods before.

Interesting, I just did this last month. I ended up using solution A, which worked fine.

PurplePen youtube link (In Swedish): https://youtu.be/s9UghzHTTGU?t=504

It also shows how to:
- Create competition
- Create course
- Open lines and circles
- Create Control Definitions
- Create Corridors
- Create Orienteering intervals
- Create Direction exercises
