Just had a 5 second earthquake. Enough to make a noise. It's been at least 5 years since we had one. We never had this many in Sacramento from 87 to 93 ironically...but there was the 7.0 Bay Area earthquake Oct 17, 1989...but before and after that no earthquakes in Sacramento.

We had a couple of years of small one's like this...although as they start you never know if it's going to get bad. We had one that kept shaking for what seemed a long time...around 30 seconds or possibly longer and was a 5.1. It did nothing to most houses even for shaking that long.

I did work one claim in Edmond where the chimney on very nice home collasped almost entirely. No other chimney even had damage so it was clearly a defective chimney. No other real damage in the area other than a minor crack that was no different than settlement. But its spooky to say the least when it happens.

I was in Charleston SC working Hurricane Hugo so I was not in Sacramento 80 miles from the epicenter. Chrissy said it felt about like the quakes we've had here in Edmond.

It was 4.2...says east of here there have been 8 earthquakes. I would have guessed around 4 based on the way the 4.0's from 5+ years.
