Read in Blair and Ricky's posts there was some average rule interpretations around distance. A real shame to read they were even on the same feature. It's as simple as looking af the master map and seeing that control circles overlap that gives it away. And now has ruined a good competition taking you out.

It wasn't a great bit of planning, assuming it wasn't a deliberate trap (which it really shouldn't have been). Looks like lots of the M21E runners and several in W21E did exactly the same thing and I'm not at all surprised.

Found myself in Nelson at 9am Friday to supervise old fella having emergency kidney operation instead. Will be in Auckland to make use of the fact work is in the middle of the Champs map :D

I was wondering if NZ rules on control proximity were different to the IOF ones (15m straight line, 25m minimum running distance), but I looked them up and they're not. (There's no longer a 'similar features' rule in IOF rules for sprint, though there is for forest).

Hmmm. 5mm on a 1:3000 map is 15m, and there was nothing in the way ...
