You prefer to split the lane with multi ton vehicles with many blind spots, subject to the same speed as traffic, as opposed to having a physically protected lane where traffic jams don't affect anything?

Have heard of some bad accidents from bollards from the lane being kinda tight, and punctures from car tires spraying debris into cycle lane and it not getting cleared out. I definitely trust the bus drivers more than the lane. Could be we experience different normal traffic tbf

Well there's enough room for a bus so the bollards being too tight wasn't an issue. Bus lanes also don't actually mean all that much here because cars generally do whatever they want in them anyways. I've never been comfortable in those lanes because you're just as at-risk of being cut off by a driver there as in a normal lane.
