For the past few months, I've been playing an online game called Chronophoto. The idea is that every day you're presented with five photographs taken sometime since 1900, and you have to guess the year each one was taken. Sometimes there are recognizable public figures, sometimes you guess based on the style of automobiles, or of the clothing people are wearing, sometimes there's not much to go on. But the first picture today took me quite by surprise:

(My guess wasn't as close as it should have been. And I don't recognize any of the people in the picture, though maybe somebody reading this will.)

1992. (I played in The Diadora League/Isthmian League '91-'95) They were into everything then.
This is like the geolocation game. There's a photo and you have to place the photo as close as possible on Googlemaps.

I was going to guess early 90’s based on that Silva top (the yellow one).

Look closely at the hand of the guy in the yellow top.

2000. O suits were still baggy and sportident was actively expanding by providing equipment for big international events like WMOC

2000 is pretty close. As far as I know, the first use of SI in the US was in the fall of 2000, though it was presumably in use before that in Europe. The game said the picture was from 2002.

Close. This style and design of an orienteering shirt was popular in East Europe in early 2000s. Particularly the guy on the right whose face looks familiar, I have almost certainly met him

My first thought was 90s but after more thought 00s so I may have been able to get close.... I first encountered electronic punching in the early 00s and the pajama style o-suits really persisted into the mid 00s. It's funny to look back at photos and see how old/outdated they look even from 15-20 years ago.
