I've found that whenever I feel shin splints coming on, switching most of my running to terrain running makes a big difference. If you can get up to Blue Mountain or Pattee and draw yourself a terrain loop, that can be good training and hopefully keep the shin splints at bay at the same time.

My current mode of transportation for running is running itself so we'll see
