I turn north at Flagstaff Station and go William/Peel, then Queensberry east to Rathdowne (the route I used to use before the La Trobe lanes were built).

At least there's now only one building site in the westbound lane (down from four for most of the last couple of years).

Hmm, sounds better but quite far - considering I want to end up on Clarendon and then Wellington. Do you ride through the gardens and along Gertrude? Gertrude seems narrow and has a tram...

That was why I chose Lonsdale - because it spits you out on Albert which gets you over to Clarendon. I'd normally wiggle onto it from LaTrobe at Exhibition anyway - but going the full length was a mistake!

For me, north on Rathdowne, angle across to the Alexandra-Nicholson intersection, on Alexandra for a few hundred metres (lots of traffic but also plenty of space), then Queens Parade.

BTW, I noted on a disruptions page that the La Trobe closure is now listed as continuing until "mid-2024" (they'd previously said September).
