“I didn’t eat before this” prob a big reason you felt worse … as presumably you ate before O-ing

I know sometimes the scheduling and digestion is hard but if you wanna be a MACHINE (which you are!) you’re gonna need fuel to run (haha literally)

yeah I know, it just is tougher when by going to the kitchen to get food/make breakfast, I'd wake up my cousin (no matter how quiet I'd try to be), and any food I could keep in my room is just expensive or not nutritious enough to help.

the thing about snacks to eat right before a run is that they don't have to be the typical "nutritious" food that you think of. You really just want them to be high in easy-carbs, so things like gummy bears (my and some of my xc teammates go to) that will give you quick carbs can be very good.

AJ keeps a jar of honey in his room and will eat a spoonful or two before he runs sometimes

I’ll second the gummy bear suggestion! (Or well jelly babies but basically the same thing)

If it could be jelly babies for me, it absolutely would be (why don't they have them in the US?!)

ok, I will try something like that. I just don't have much self control when it comes to gummy bears or those kind of snack and they will be gone before I even need them before a run lol

mm but I'd I like it enough to be able to eat it before runs I'll like it enough to binge eat them. I will look for a food that works tho

I have no idea Bridget!! I’ll try to convince Thomas to bring you some home when goes to his next USA event ;)

also I get that Alex! I kept a whole bunch of the Covid little zip lock bags from the lat flows (why only put one test in when it fit two!) so I found if I filled them with just a few that I needed for a run A) I’d be more likely to pick them up for a run and B) was less likely to be bothered opening multiple bags to snack on.

Also enjoy chocolate dipped rice cakes. Or Reese’s
