Personally I would say make "quality" days (long runs & workouts) running and then xt on however many of the recovery days you need (as long as the pain isn't worse when going faster, which I would be surprised by for shin pain)

Dude...whatever you do, don't run through the pain. You have come too far to be derailed now. Gym, swim, hike...whatever. Just don't go back to 2021-2023!! You are not going to lose too much if you just stay active. And for god's sake, go back to your old shoes or something...even if it is just a new version of the old shoe.

Yeah I switched back to the shoes with a lot of miles on them because the new ones were giving my nasty blisters on the back of my heel, I should probably get a new pair of the same because they were working well for me.
