PayPal wasn't working when I signed up and tried to pay.

I’ve heard of a couple other people having PayPal problems with ER events recently. Not sure if there’s a pattern. Try the PP link in your confirmation email. That worked for me for SWSW, after it wouldn’t go through at check-out.

When I click on the link to pay I get a message from PayPal that says:

Something doesn’t look right. Your payment to this merchant can’t be completed using PayPal. Choose another way to pay.

It doesn't look like anyone who has registered has been able to pay.

I think much of the USMAOC leadership is in Tucson this weekend - it might be a day or two before they can address this.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, we're working through the issue with payment right now. Seems to be an update to PayPal that we have to adjust to. I'll send a reply here when it's up and good to go.

Registration PayPal for the West Point NRE is up and running. Thanks for the patience.

How do we pay if we already signed up? Following the link in the registration confirmation email, it still says "Something doesn’t look right. Your payment to this merchant can’t be completed using PayPal. Choose another way to pay."

Just sign up again and email the registrar to cancel the first one?
Mar 12, 2024 2:54 AM #
mikeminium:
@JJ. Better let the registrar answer that! I know at least one registrar (not I) who would scream “NOOOOO!!!!!” at the very thought of a duplicate registration, followed by a string of expletives “that would make a sailor blush with shame” (apologies to Ray Stevens). The registrar might possibly prefer to send a new CEM (confirmation email) with a corrected link. There are definitely multiple ways to approach this. I definitely would NOT advise doing a new duplicate registration until I heard the registrar’s preference

That's why I used a question mark (to indicate that I was kidding). Probably needed some extra punctuation there. ;-)

Thanks JJ.

Please forward any relevant changes such as this to the registrar. Thanks!

I dislike the use of the button on the CEM for payment. It doesn't work on my phone, but does work on my PC. IMO, it should be a regular link, like the ones for the waiver, if it hasn't been signed yet. A registrar can easily send a payment url/link upon request.

@MM: Actually, a duplicate -- or superseding, as I now call it -- entry is not much of a bother, as long as no payment has been made, AND the info in each is identical (eg, NOT different SI#s, classes/courses, ...). All I have to do is cancel the earlier one, with no need to tell the registrant I did so. It's especially straightforward if the 2nd one is paid-for, as is usually the case.

What does bug me is seeing multiple individual entries in other events' registration lists. Am I the only registrar that thinks that, besides distorting counts, this just looks weird? The extras will need to go away before OE downloads happen (unless you like ticking-off the results person), so why wait until the last minute?

Anyway, it is ALWAYS better to reach out to the registrar if you think something went wrong -- or simply wish to change something -- before potentially digging a deeper hole by making ASSumptions about what she/he would prefer. Believe me when I say it is LESS WORK to read an e-mail and edit an existing entry, than to clean up a registrant-generated mess.

It appears that the PayPal option that has worked reasonably well for decades is no longer available -- only PayPal Stupid Smart Payment Buttons are.

Never mind duplicate entries "bugging" this registrar, the expletives are deployed when significant changes -- like this -- are made to EventReg with ZERO notice or consultation with users, aka registrars.

Hello everyone, we had to finalize all t-shirt orders today so that they ship on time and therefore they will no longer be available to order on EventReg. Thanks to those who ordered shirts. We appreciate the support.

I just registered at 11:30 PM on March 24, and for some reason the late entry fees are already active. Is that a mistake?
Mar 25, 2024 4:13 AM #
akeppel:
The late registration begins on Sunday 24 March at 00:00 am. This means that any registration on or before Saturday 23 March at 23:59 pm is not charged as a late registration. I apologize for any confusion this caused.

Hi, I put the wrong information on the website regarding late fees, I apologize for the confusion. We will work to refund the late fees to those who registered before 2359 EST on 24MAR in the coming days.

jjcote:
Yeah, " Any registration that takes place after 24 March will result in a $10 late fee per race." does not make it sound like on 24 March is too late. Thanks for looking into this.

Just a reminder that registration for the 44th Annual West Point NRE will close at 11:59pm on April 8th. We can't wait to see you all out here next weekend!

The maps show access to Day 1 from the NW (via Route 293) but Google Maps gives directions from the SE as well (via Bear Mountain Bridge and Mine Road). Can anyone confirm if there is access via Mine Road from the SE? I am looking to drive down the morning of and would like to not have to take a 20 minute detour. (Streetview shows this gate; can anyone confirm its state of openness?)

The notes say that the gate on Mine from FT Montgomery may or may not be open.

Day 1 walk to start 2.4k/79m.
On my daily hike at Ward Pound this morning I tried walking a hilly 2.4k at your suggested 'brisk walk' pace. I could only do it in 45 min and then I had to go home for a short nap.

Is it possible to provide some form of transport for the aged competitors (say 80 and older) to at least the upper parking?
Failing that could you provide a couple of cots near the start..
Apr 11, 2024 10:02 PM #
sshah:
Yes sir, we will provide transport for elderly competitors (M and F 75+) and those with disabilities.

Secondly, please follow the published guidance for how to enter the event site. Please come from Route 293.

Here is a link to the Event Guide for your reference. We look forward to seeing you all!
