Hi! I just listened to the recording of the latest O-USA forum and I had a quick question: what SI software do you use for your events that have both point-to-point and score courses?

I ask because I've been directing a series of events that are score-o in nature, but then I adopted/inherited a stand-alone, annual-for-40-years, point-point event.

So the compromise I came up with is essentially the same event footprint as yours: point-to-point courses for the advanced orienteers who want the point-to-point, and a score course (comprised of many of the point-to-point controls, plus some beginner/intermediate ones) for everyone else (I've found that it's a similar demographic that you said you have on your Explorer courses).

Unfortunately, this is the only event of the year where we offer an explorer-like course, and the reason is it's double the work for the download crew, because they have to set up two races: two download SI units, two download computers, two backup batteries, two sets of pre-registration lists, two results pages, etc.

I think our e-punch team is generally happy with SportSoftware, but this seems like a big limitation, and I was wondering what you guys use.

We use Meos.

We use SI-Droid, which handles a mix of formats no problem (and also doesn't require that we have a computer or a generator/battery pack). The results are exportable to Meos format.

To clarify for Patrick: MeOS is able to handle both simultaneously. we only have one download unit, one computer, etc. I do have to merge the two results but I think there is another way to do it if one is better with xml files than I am.

Thanks for the info! I'm kind of dumb when it comes to the e-punch timing.

We have a competent download team that manages all of our events, and we have the equipment to handle two setups in Sport Software. I'll chat with some of the other series directors about the potential to add an Explorer course.
