12 out of 35 teams mispunching, seems to be about the standard. At least the clubs mixed it around:
1 x Eureka
3 x MFR
1 x YV
3 x BK
3 x DROC
1 x Nillumbik

That's essentially every club that fielded more than two teams (plus EU). No club dominated this year and even YV only managed four legal teams. I had been wondering how you managed to win but then no other clubs had more legal teams (BK and NE both fielded four but with lower results).

I was pleased that the two Bendigo teams managed places with no mispunches. I was thinking l should volunteer to coach orienteering - check your number and check for the beep. How hard can it be?
I was almost tempted to recite back to a certain person who once told me (at another event) and who mispunched at this event - ‘ How can someone as experienced as you be so hopeless’.

'‘ How can someone as experienced as you be so hopeless’."
I invite you to the Easter carnival where, no doubt, I can demonstrate exactly how.

Presumably Neil is referencing how everyone else will get lost amongst the rocks at next year's Easter, whereas he knows precisely where each & every one of them is located.

No, this year's carnival.. There is only one rock map for Easter 2025 anyway.

David and James have both had very few mispunches in their o careers but both had one recently, be surprised if they did it again.

James switched most of the controls which also meant he had to do old school punching.

Which is worse, mispunching two events in the same three event carnival (Aus MTBO Champs 2018, that was after MPing the one event that was run for the selection trials earlier in the year) or mispunching three times in the same event (World MTBO Champs 2023)?

Outside of those it's rare for me to MP though from memory I did it at event 1 of a Xmas five days one year, our WA club relays the year before I fled the state and an ANZ Challenge MTBO in NZ one year.

What is worse? Punching the wrong control or forgetting to go to one, which is what David and James did, if I'm correct

Historically I've averaged one or two mispunches a decade, but had three in 2022-23 (including in the WMOC long final in 2022, which was exceedingly frustrating after an otherwise good run on a tough day).

My most memorable mispunch as the first control at the Easter Prologue in the Dubbo Zoo. Given we started in groups of six and all ran to the same first control, its hard to explain why this was recorded as a mispunch. Its not like it was the wrong control or I forgot to go there. Ever since I have had niggling doubts over SI timing.

Yes I did both of those in my triple mispunch effort.

Was the Aust MTBO champs the one in Queensland? I mispunched there too (as did poss half the course).

Yeah but I missed a control in the long (had three in a straight line) rather than punching the wrong paired control as most others did.
