TBorish: under 5 minutes for a mile is like the state-winning time. that's crazy for your coaches to tell you you should be even close to that. 12 minutes for 2 miles is more reasonable, though. if tomorrow's the first meet, just think of it as a practice since the first meet (at least in WA) doesn't matter for anything. just see what times you can get and then based on those times try to think of how much you can/want to improve over the rest of the season.

HKuestner: Good luck, Alison!!! Last year my goal for the season was also to get 12 mins, but I was always slower than it, until the last meet I finally got 11 mins and 59 seconds!

It usually doesn't matter how the first few runs go; it's just good practice. Have fun!!!!

Sandy: Go Alison. Enjoy yourself and take the advice above. Run hard but think of it as a baseline - just try to see what's reasonable for you at this stage. On those last laps, remember, we're all rooting for you so give it all you've got.

Acampbell: Thanks guys! this helps a lot!!!! I'll post tomorrow night how it goes.

oh and tori my bad it was like they want something in the 5 min rang so i think one of them said like 5:40- 5:45 was where they wanted me. (I think i was thinking under 6 and that they wanted 5 something when i typed that, ops!) So idk we will see.
