Rosco:
oh aye? who might that be?

Derek Easton - he was on the committee when I joined many years ago but only seen occasionally these days, all his time goes to coaching Central Athletics (he won that Coach of the Year trophy before Jase).

In his younger (slimmer days!) he was a pretty top runner and was part of the CofF posse on the beach (you know it was filmed at St Andrews?).

Elle:
So you think Derek's pretty then?

Jon X:
I guess in his younger day he must have been photogenic enough to be asked to be in the film!

Far more importantly, are you questioning my use of language and looking for a reply? I thought you knew better!

Let us consider the question of "was vs is"

"In her younger day Elle was ten years old"
"So you think Elle is ten years old then?"

Hmm, doesn't really work does it? Although to be fair, sometimes it can work...
"In her younger day Elle was in need of English grammar lessons"
"So you think Elle is in need of English grammar lessons then?"

Would you like to call a truce there?

Rosco:
I think you're clutching at straws there Jon!

Elle:
A truce requires both parties to agree to stop fighting for a time ........... not sure that you are capible of that...

You may think you have won this battle, but let the war continue.......

Capable! A slip of the typing finger I'm sure.

I suspect, to be fair, Elle was making a play on words to encourage some banter... There would have to have been a comma after the pretty if he meant pretty in looks in this context. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Elle:
I suspect that you might also find that Elle chose to misspell "capable" to see if JonX could resist correcting her and maintain the truce. We will never know.....

My old primary school teacher used to make "deliberate" mistakes all the time. She was the one that sent one boy for a tin of tartan paint. He was the one that we used to make be sick so we could go and play football. Happy days.

Hopefully you didn't make him sick by forcing him to drink the tartin paint.

Particularly not the whole tan of tartin paint....
