| Rachel: | I agree. It is amazing how such a small thing can make such a big difference. |

| Boltboi: | except the poor bugger who was first on course having to wait until they turned on all 14 of them!!! |

| Rachel: | Yep, I been caught out by that extra wait time in some bush orienteering events with often having the first start now. Probably in sprint events it could be overcome by the person putting out controls starting the units as they put them out... I guess at the sprint champs a controller would run the course pre-start turning them on and checking they are working?? |

| blairtrewin: | That's what we did at last year's WOC trial (although I only thought of it because of having to wake half the controls up on the long day of Easter a few weeks earlier). |

| Tooms: | Sorry to disappoint but back to manual punching for Minim Cove - we have a theory that it's too much of a public area... what do you think? Hale will be full SI and I'll use as many 'normal' stands as I can get away with. |

| Craig: | I reckon the controls are probably a bit safer in a sprint than a metro series as there are people visiting each control at regular intervals. Biggest danger is probably before and after the event. I think you would probably be ok around minim cove early on a Saturday afternoon but I guess it could get expensive if you are unlucky. |
