gordhun: This just in. A few Ottawa OC members have generously agreed to open up their homes for orienteers participating in the NCOF. In some case they can also provide transportation to the event sites.
So if the high cost of hotels in Ottawa during our popular Spring Festival is keeping you away contact me to get on the list for billeting.
If you have already registered that's even better. Perhaps we help you save some money for a return visit.
Contact me gordhun (at) rogers (dot) com at I will endeavour to make a match.

mikeminium: Is there still a youth hostel at Gatineau? I stayed there with a group of several OCIN juniors a few years ago and found it quite pleasant and convenient.

gordhun: That is Carman Trails. While the building is still there and the new owner operates a number of outdoor activities from the location, including some of our orienteering meets it does not operate as a hostel.
The closest hostel - and it is also a good one is the old Carleton County Jail in downtown Ottawa. http://www.hihostels.ca/OntarioEast/en/index.aspx?...

gordhun: By the way we have about five homes in Ottawa willing to host orienteers coming for the NCOF - especially national team candidates but it is open to all. Most of the hosts can also offer rides to the meets.
We have not had many takers yet. The offer still stands. My address is gordhunter@hotmail.com
