What is your max heart rate? I was under the impression that max HR doesnt change much with age or fitness.
in the past my legs/lungs used to give out before my heart rate broke 180. i got up to 182 once but that was a one off and i was shattered at the end. hy hrm has been playing up lately so i might just blame it on faulty equipment.
182 is low by the general population, not really something to worry about though. Miguel Indurian (5 times Tour de France winner) had a max heart rate of 155. Just means you've got a seriously strong ticker i guess. Mine goes up to 207, id love to be able to get any serious performance at 180, but then my cardio is probably nothing compared to yours.
Hasn't your HRM always been giving you bullshit data? If it's the same one, I think it's time for a new one...
And besides, listen to your body, not your watch!
in the past it was accurate. i would count it manually and get similar numbers to the hrm. counted last night shortly after i finished and got ~170bpm and was almost the same as the hrm. maybe my heart has gone soft
Even if the HRM isnt giving a completely accurate MAX rate as long as it is consistent its still usefull.
