Golfer: Good see another "old bloke" (no offence!) on AP. Good run Sunday. Beat me out of sight!

Don't tell me: Stk66? is that the last time the won the Flag!

Hawkies 6 from 6!

StK66: Thanks for the welcome Golfer. The last time they won the 'real' flag anyway - you got it in one - 1966, MCG, 119000 fans, Barry Breen, 1 point, over Collingwood, - 42 years ago, and I can remember so much, though I was having a bath at the time, back in the days when you put on the PJ's at 5:00 pm on a Saturday arvo / evening, cause' mum and dad said so - tragic life of a saints fan I guess. We did win the pre-season this year, but I have been told 1) this doesn't count and 2) it is simply a "kiss of death".
I was pleased with my effort Sunday - thanks - but look at Saturday, when the going was really tough - you took me to the cleaners. Fantastic run I reckon - well done.

GrantM: StK66 did intrigue me too until I took a guess at Googling 'St Kilda 1966' and the first result said 'St Kilda's dramatic one point win over Collingwood on that 'one day' in 1966 stands out like a beacon over a predominantly dour and gloomy terrain'. How about that, it even has an orienteering bent.

Good run on Sunday.

acejase: I would like to point out also that "the last time they won the flag" could also be rephrased "the only time they won the flag". ;) I dont want to point it out too much though otherwise Russ might point out that the last and only time my Bulldogs won the flag was 1954. I wasnt in my PJs then in fact my parents hadnt even met or left primary school for that matter.

StK66: Grant - I'm very impressed with your research , "dour and gloomy terrain has an Orienteering bent - given the Saints current form, I hope that description wont turn out to be the phrase that defines another year that could of been, but just wasn't. Thanks for your comment re my run Sunday. But as I said to Golfer, Saturday sorted those that can from those that can't. His run was great, and yours was even better - great work. By the way - who / what are 'the Bilby's' - some training group in the ACT?

Acejase - I certainly didn't know Doggies fans have been suffering since 1954! I would have pointed out that I was confident that I had something a little more recent to boast about as far as the Saints were concerned - but 1954!!! All the more reason to be a little excited about the direction of the 2008 campaign - though I'm sure Rocket has the boys / and supporters, "taking it just one week at a time".

GrantM: Bilbies are a triathlon club in Canberra. They have various training sessions throughout the week, with one of the running sessions being intervals on a grass oval in Dickson at 6pm on Tuesdays. Depending on the time of the year they can get what seems like a 100 people going along. The numbers tend to drop off in winter when the temperature is near zero. The session usually takes 90 minutes with the first 45 minutes spent warming up, stretching (static and dynamic), short sprints, etc. I haven't been for a while, but quite a few orienteers go. Scotty used to attend regularly and encourage the juniors to go too. They are very welcoming, and usually have a easy, medium, hard set (and sometimes a very hard set).
