Magic: Be a good man Andrew and add your route from Saturday would you?

#  Posted 2008-05-09 12:04:16
Andrew: Oh yeah... Will do!

#  Posted 2008-05-09 13:35:29
ndobbs: I will too once I get set up back in Poland, arrive back in this evening...

Andrew, thanks a mill to you and your family for looking after me all weekend, hi to your mum for me too.
Sorry your middle distance didn't go so well... perhaps it was punishment for not focusing properly on the Sunday :p Incidentally, I'd agree with Colm's remarks: 3ROC deserve more loyalty than IFKL.

Marcus, congrats on kicking everyone's asses (bar ondrej!)!!

#  Posted 2008-05-09 13:38:22
BorisGr: Careful Neil! Won't you be running for IFKL next year??

#  Posted 2008-05-09 16:19:20
Andrew: What on earth do you mean by saying 3ROC deserve more loyalty?!! Should I not run Tio Mila so I can win a leg at the Irish relay Champs?!! I thought I explained why IFKL have priority - they pump at least 10,000kr into each and every runner. They simply come first because of that. Nevertheless 3ROC are my mother club, and they have my loyalty for that. As I have replied to Colm, sometimes one has to make choices and sacrifices, difficult ones.

Anyway, you are very welcome! It was fun!

Andrew: Marcus>>route is up!

#  Posted 2008-05-10 00:19:41
ndobbs: fair enough, but my 3rd leg runner wasn't exactly stunning either - and he was sent out in third place only a couple of minutes down...
and whatever about notkilling yourself physically, mentally you should never allow yourself to be sloppy... like me the following day :(

My French club used to support me to the tune of several hundred euros, and they didn't have lidingoloppet as a slushfund. On the occasions there was a clash, Irish Champs came before French Club (Relay) Champs, which attracting almost 2000 competitors is a massive event, given there were around 6000 in the country... and I never had the slightest hint of a reproach from my club.

Borsi, Mats was inviting me to join ye in Uppsala, so don't think you're safe yet ;p

Andrew: ndobbs>> Orienteering is on a different level in Sweden even compared to France. You know that...
IFKL prepares extraordinarily well for relays. We are a team, not just a bunch of individual runners. Think of it as you would of a team-sports club. You do not abandon them when needed.
I have many good reaons for choosing as I do. I can list more, but I wouldn't want to bore you ;)
As regards being mentally sloppy, I am not at all happy about that. You can read why I think that happened in my training log.

#  Posted 2008-05-10 01:53:20
ndobbs: You don't have to list more; you've defended yourself quite well :)
I think IFKL would also consider it completely reasonable on your part to skip tio to run national champs... football clubs have similar problems (especially with players from other continents), highly paid key players "deserting" to compete in African Nations and the like (yes, I know African Nations is international, not national).

I think small clubs appreciate their top runners and it can have a motivational effect on juniors to have them coming back to run for them and showing pride in the club. I can imagine you having a much more competitive team in a couple of years when Eoin McC is a little older... I might have a little longer to wait, barring any further surprise recruitments (Boris?) ;p

BorisGr: No chance I'd leave CSU!

#  Posted 2008-05-10 18:22:11
Eoin: Skip Tio Mila to run your guts out for an uncompetitive team at IOC? Shirley you can't be serious.

#  Posted 2008-05-10 19:29:36
ndobbs: my words are getting twisted, or perhaps i wasn't being clear... that last post I was referring to the individual races... reading again, it seems I wasn't being clear :) in the past tio and IOCs have been on the same weekend...

I don't know did *anyone* travel back to Ireland for last year's Relays... which may explain how some children from the curragh ended up winning ;p

#  Posted 2008-05-11 14:07:17
rachael: wow, you irish boys post long messages ;-)
I can safely say that IFKL wouldn't consider it reasonable to skip tio to run in national champs!! surely its a good thing is that you all went back to run it, regardless of results?!

(are you moving to sweden neil?)
