| Kat: | Even if your race did not go perfectly (heat, side stitch, starting off a bit too quickly), I think the time is still very good. Nice work!
Did you have somebody else take splits for you or were you looking at your watch during the race? |

| Torino: | Was it all of the womens-A-team or how big was this Swiss team? And did they all wear spikes? I do think it would have made a substantial difference each km but you are also right, you would have needed to train wearing them some time ago because it does stress the calves a lot. |

| szurcher: | I took splits during the race, but only every km, not every round. It's easy to see if you are on pace by doing this and you don't have to take a split every lap, which is good. It certainly feels awkward during a race to reach over to your watch.
The Swiss team girls were both A and B team members, to be on the B team you should be able to run 18:30, so the B team members are pretty fast (fastest time was from a B team member). |

| khall: | Well done! Given the heat you were close to your goal. Just a reminder - for track as well as orienteering it is a good idea to have 3-tier goals. I'm guessing that 19:10 wasn't your dream goal or your really good goal, but DID meet your 'satisfactory' goal. And that means genuinely satisfied!
And know that you could be faster with spikes (and that doesn't mean that you actually ever have to buy any!) Was it a PB???? |

| szurcher: | It was a PB by far! I never ran under 20min in high cross country or college. I have only once before ran a 5km on the track and that was with Marc in October of 2003. He paced me to run under 20 minutes but I didn't make it. So, I guess it's certainly good progress.
Yes, you are right, it did meet my satisfactory goal. It's funny that you mention the 3-tier goals, because I have been doing that since last summer and it is a really good way to prepare for a race as well as be able to look at it objectively afterwards. I should send you my mental preparation spreadsheet (book) that I made this winter, if you like. I have been standardizing my preparations and also the course analysis afterwards as well. |

| ebone: | Nice work, Sandra! It's remarkable what one can do with consistent, planned effort. |
