FB: I need to get onto this yoga thing - therapist at UoT actually told me I'd better do so about 15 years ago and it just registered ;-)

Any suggestions, I've seen the odd reference to CD's on AP. Getting to classes is almost impossible with the kids schedules (not to mention how much I would embarrass myself in a class by being so bad at it)

'Bent: Caron Shepley has 3 CDs- one on core conditioning for endurance athletes and 2 on yoga for endurance athletes.

Bash and I can get you them if you want, or you can borrow one of ours to try if Bash's not using them.

Bash: Caron's first "Power Yoga for Endurance Athletes" DVD is excellent and explains things fully for beginners, even though it's an intermediate yoga workout. It shows people doing modified versions of positions to increase/decrease the difficulty, which is helpful. But apparently it is sold out. You could try writing her directly at caron@personalbest.ca to see if there are any last copies remaining somewhere. Her website is www.bluedogyoga.com.

I think Caron's 2nd Power Yoga DVD is great, but less suitable for beginners - not because it's that much more difficult to do, but because she doesn't spend as much time explaining the different positions or showing modified positions.

Her Hard Core Conditioning DVD isn't yoga, but it's just plain GOOD for you. Everyone needs at least a few abs.

Leanimal: CDs are great especially with a hectic schedule but if you ever get the chance to attend even one beginners class I would do it. I was just asking my teacher last night to reposition me in one of the most basic postures because I just didn't think I had it right even though I have been doing it for years....it helps to have someone position you so you get the feel of it because trust me if you aren't doing it right you can injure yourself. Start slow is all I have to say although I have the feeling you could get both feet behind your head in about 2 weeks....

Bash: Sure, but would he be able to get his feet *back* from behind his head?

FB: I can't keep them out of my mouth long enough to get them behind my head... thanks for the advice, I'll try e-mailing her

urthbuoy: FB...yoga...next thing I know you'll be a veggie and living in the West again!

If you do attend a class, don't crush any of the girls with a falling tree pose or such.
