And training of course. The equivalent of a 16:04 5K is none too shabby, even slightly wind-assisted.

jaysus, logs (and jobs) like yours will keep any of us from feeling sorry for ourselves...

running irish champs a couple of weekends ago i got caught by marcus four controls from the end. he was racing at a much higher pace than i had been, but i upped mine, managed to beat him to the finish... which means I wasn't running anything close to my potential top race pace. I guess you aren't either.

Now how to learn to run at that pace without making mistakes is another question... you really have to know where the next control is

take it easy at the selection races; run steady :)
