gordhun: Are you an over-35 northern hemisphere orienteer thinking of going to the 2009 World Masters Games/ Orienteering Championships in Sydney Australia. Are you thinking it might be a long way to go for one event? Don't despair there will be lots of lead up events and possibly a following event in New Zealand.
I picked this off an Australian website:
http://www.wmoc2009.orienteering.asn.au/eastcoasto...
Australian East Coast O-Tour
For those competitors who would like an extended orienteering holiday in Australia, the following program of events is available:

1. 19-20 September 2009 : Queensland Championships
http://www.oq.asn.au

2. 26 September - 4 October 2009 : Australian Championships Carnival, Victoria
Early information

Includes the following events:

Sat 26 September 2009 - Australian Middle Distance Championships

Sun 27 September 2009 - Victorian Long Distance Championships

Tue 29 September 2009 - Mid week event

Wed 30 September 2009 - Mid week event

Fri 2 October 2009 - Australian Sprint Orienteering Championships

Sat 3 October 2009 - Australian Long Distance Championships

Sun 4 October 2009 - Australian Relay Championships

3. 6-7 October 2009 : Canberra 2 Day
http://www.act.orienteering.asn.au

4. 10-17 October 2009 : World Masters Orientering Championships

More details for the Australian East Coast O-Tour events will be available soon from the above websites. Following WMOC there may also be the opportunity to visit New Zealand for two days of orienteering on 25 and 26 October 2009. Details to be advised.

(If that is not enough activity bring your golf clubs and we can get in a few games along the road from Melbourne to Sydney.)

simmo: The West Australian Championships will be held on the same weekend as Queensland (19/20 September). That would be an alternative for anyone coming from Europe - would give you two hours less jet-lag!
