| ccsteve: | Meant to ask - I particularly liked the climb out of 9 and run back to 10 down the re-entrants with the ducking and weaving around obstacles... The little climb (almost like a ladder) back up to the top of that hill was steeper than I predicted, but ok.
How did you get there? |

| turbodog: | From #9 I followed the valley, over the saddle, etc. to the trail junction near #7, then stayed on the trail by the creek around the hill to the ruins. I went up the hill from there. |

| gas_turbine: | Real men (and their teenage sons) go THROUGH the creek the whole way back. Or was that 'real ducks and their ducklings'...
We were quite a pair showing up in Dan's Crafts & Things (Mecca for hobbyists) after the meet. |

| turbodog: | I did a quick calculation and determined that running speed through water was slightly less than running speed on solid ground. Think I can publish the research? |

| ccsteve: | Or put another way - you went back up the trail to the saddle and then went downhill to the stream;-) yeah - that was fun, but it sounds like you navigated more than you needed to...
Creek back was a ZigZag thing, Orange had a second to last control at ZigZag's control #3 and then had a final control on the hill above control 10. Real orienteers on the ZigZag would have taken that hilly trail back the whole way and stayed out of the stream;-) |
