Rosstopher: I find that it's truly hard to be objective of one's own performances. It may feel like you haven't improved enough in your recent races, but what "you feel" is based on lots of irrelevant things like how tired you feel afterwards and how well your competition ran.

anyways, maybe your sprints are operating under the principles of punctuated equilibrium..... and maybe the giraffe is about to grow a long neck!

Cristina: Melissa and I both appreciated the nerdy biology reference...

Looking over the whole weekend, including the sprint, I think I can say that on the whole I have definitely improved from last year. The problem is that the improvement has slowed down, which means that now I need a nerdy math reference on how to steepen the slope of the learning curve for larger values of x. (At least, I think that's what I need.)

bubo: Arghhh - maths (shudder)...

BorisGr: Well, presumably you are using a learning function with a steadily decreasing learning rate η, so to climb out of a plateau or a local maximum you need to increase the value again. I suggest Sweden.

bubo: Maybe the Swedish Air Force could use some reinforcements?

negniRO: Swedish Air Force? Does one still exist? If they do I am sure they can't actually afford to fly!

jjcote: Yeah, the Flygvapnet is still around, but it isn't a growth opportunity these days.

Wyatt: You're Monday race seems a bit of a step up from the plateau. Nicely done to take 3rd US in a Team Trials race...

Swampfox: Is this where you have to come to find negniRO these days?

Cristina: Hey, I'm all for moving to Scandiland, Flygvapnet or no Flygvapnet. Just find a way to get me out in less than 3 years and 29 days...
