Discussion: A "must read" article

For those of you able to read some Swedish and able to navigate your way to a certain thorny blog, Spike has posted a link to Tero's web site which in turn has links to a fascinating article in Skogssport centered on the incredible Tero and Simone O' dynamos. One thing that shines through clearly is the kind of dedication and focus these folks have brought to their training and racing. Their race successes, in other words, are not exactly an accident. I rate the article as a "must read" for any aspiring orienteer!

Should we try to coordinate an effort to translate the article from Swedish to English?

The article is long. Translating it would be a chore. But, I think we've got enough Swedish readers on Attackpoint that we could split the article into pieces and get the whole thing translated without too much of a headache.

I'm in -- just let me know what section.

I won't have much time for a few days (my brother is in town to visit and I'm working this week). I won't have much time to translate in the next few days, but I can coordinate the effort.

How about if anyone who translates, emails what they've got to me at home ( meglin at juno.com ) and I'll work on putting it all together?

Work? Can't let my priorities get too screwed up...I'll take the first page (it is pretty short, afterall, mostly photographs).

This happens in the first chapter of Seven Brothers by Aleksis Kivi (pages 1-3):

The authorities forced the brothers to go to school and they were thinking should they go there or not. Most of the brothers thinks it is impossible to learn to read and the whole skill would be totally useless anyway. Finally Aapo says they are thinking too much, better just go to Hämeenlinna, buy those ABC books and push forward. He uses words: "Voimallinen tahto vie miehen läpi harmaan kiven" (A man’s will can take him through stone).
