Okay Boston area folks. I'm proposing January 8th and January 22nd for training. One could be a trail run and one on a map. Any preferences folks? Mark the dates now and we can work out the details later.
RSVP even if you are not sure, 'coz if no one expresses an interest then it won't happen!

I definitely won't be around on January 8; Jan 22 may be possible but I won't know until shortly before then.

I'm interested too. Either day probably works as well as the other for me.

Okay, from this I'll say trail run on 1/8, and O training on 1/22. Locations yet to be determined.
I'll see what maps are available, and where we can run without permission ...
Keep those RSVPs coming! Looks like we could have a dozen people or more on the 22nd. The numbers definitely influence what sort of training we do, and how the controls get put out ...

I'm not sure about the 8th, but I'll probably make the 22nd.

I am planning to join you both on the 8th and the 22nd, provided my hips stays OK.

Sam, Hill and I will not be there on the 8th.
We will be doing long runs every week end there after, unless we are skiing and we would be interested in training on the 22nd. I would not be concerned about permission, and all NEOC maps are available (over 100, let's try some new places). I have about 12 personal controls, but I'd think streamers would be good for training.
If anyone would care to join us for long runs, you are welcome. In the past we have done Street O (some trails) in Newton for 2 hours or so, or long trail runs usually in the Blue Hills. New venues welcome. Likely Newton Street O on the 14th.
Also will be doing weekday workouts around 3:30pm.

any update on what, if anything might be happening on Sunday?

This Sunday (Jan 8) will be a trail/off trail run (with maps if desired, but no formal O training set up ... just spontaneous stuff). O shoes or Trail shoes depending on your inclination and ankle strength. Does meeting at 9:30am sound good? Location: oh, let's say Blue Hills. Houghton's Pond parking lot. BYO map(s). But generally the goal is a quite long (2 hours ish) trail run. The overall idea for the trail runs is that they will build endurance ... and gradually work up to 2.5 hours.
CHECK HERE ON SATURDAY FOR FINAL CONFIRMATION!!!
Right now the group looks small, so further RSVPs would be great.
On the 22nd I am thinking Estabrook (it is nicer in the Winter) for some O training. It will involve participants setting out some controls/streamers at the start and picking them up at the end, as well as a couple of O exercises in the middle. Total time a bit over 2 hours, I expect. No standing around time (too cold).
