Bash: Wow, I'm impressed! What's your motivation? Dedication to the environment, love of biking, price of gas, athletic training?

However, I believe that the best route choice would have been the paddle.

barb: paddling would be ggog. had the equipment for the bike though. i was knd of intimidated about doing this buty then i said to myself, it,s just another bike ride. why? well, just seems like a good thing to do. i like the power and independence of being able to get someplace under my own power. blew all that once i got on the plane of course.

levitin: Barb, how would you describe the neighborhoods you rode through? Did you feel safe the whole way? I don't mean from the cars -- cyclists in Boston have to have guts or they will never ride. I mean from the street threats like potholes and sewer grates oriented the wrong way, and from people who might consider you to be invading their turf.

barb: I was OK with the bumpy street - can just slow down. The grating on the bridges would be a drag if it were wet. Maybe walking it would be a good idea. I think the thing I'm most nervous about for my nighttime return trip is whatever random people might hang out in these forsaken realms after dark. During the day it's a lot of truckers. Not sure who's there at night.

barb: What?

jjcote: Hmm, did that "What?" come up when it was the Mystic River movie poster that was showing, or only after the "attrition" message appeared?

barb: After.

I am wimping out of riding home tonight. Dave will pick me up...

kissy: I'm happy to hear that! I was getting a little worried for your return trip.
